Semester Course: Fashion Sketching for Aspiring Fashion Designers

Time to sketch! Students will be able to explore different fashion themes and techniques in sketching so they can create their own unique designs.

Classes are 55 minutes via Zoom Mondays @ 4pm PST / 5pm MST / 6pm CST / 7pm EST

Class Experience

Students will practice various sketching techniques used by fashion designers to create their own designs. Every week, the focus will be on a different fashion theme. We will explore these themes and how designers use sketching methods to achieve their desired look. We will also go over how to apply sketching in the real world as well as tips and strategies for sharing design and concept ideas.

Students develop their creative skills by completing mini-tutorials with the class and using them to create their own unique works of art.

Develop a strong understanding of the process of proportions and fabric:

• Learn about famous fashion designers
• Discuss the best usage of using sketching tools
• Learn about shading
• Learn 9 oval strategy to draw fashion body proportions

The semester course allows students to create bonds with other students in the class by collaborating while contributing and developing their own strengths. Thanks to small class sizes, the instructor can use student interests’ to customize the lessons.
